Belgrade is a funny place. It’s not particularly pretty or that interesting on the surface but once you kind of dig deep down there is a lot to appreciate and like about this capital city.
Kosovo
We entered Kosovo from Skopje and drove the the beautifully eerie countryside that became all too familiar to me during the mid 90’s as I watched the war unfold on TV. I felt a strange feeling as I entered because I remembered the war and watching it and the interviews with people affected by the […]
Skopje, Macedonia
The birthplace of Mother Teresa can’t be a bad place, right? She was born in Skopje in 1910 and her presence is felt throughout the region and especially in Skopje. Today the city beams with life, energy and excitement after the break-up of the former Yugoslavia.
Sofia, Bulgaria
Sorry I am a few days behind again but we have been really busy exploring and getting around the Balkans as a full time job. I am short on time again today so I will be brief. Sofia, Bulgaria was the stop I met my friend Mike at and we explored the beautiful city in […]
Bucharest, Romania
After the complete train heat debacle two nights ago I made it into Bucharest knowing that I only had about 14 hours in the city because I had to get to Sofia to meet my friend Mike. I managed to grab a shower and store my bag at a guesthouse where a friend of mine […]
My Experience in Transnistria and Moldova
Transnistria, also known as Trans Dniester (TCC List) and Pridnestrovie (Russian), is a breakaway territory within the internationally recognized borders of Moldova. Odessa, Ukraine
I am a bit behind on posting again and the last few days have been super crazy and action packed. I spent some time in Odessa, Ukraine which is an old Soviet summer resort which is now a crumbling shadow of its former self. The other major Black Sea resorts in the Crimea, still in […]
Yerevan, Armenia
I was only going to have about 12 hours in Yerevan before I had my hellish 3am flight this morning to Odessa via a six hour layover in Prague (which it rained the whole time by the way). I was mixed on what I was going to do in Yerevan on my hellish Minibus ride […]
Tbilisi, Georgia
I have some catching up to do here so stick with me. By the way I will add pcitures once I get back and can easily upload them, thanks for asking everybody though. I have been running around ragged the last few days having blast but not really sleeping and not having any time to […]
A Long Day and Night in the Caucasus
Yesterday was a long, long day. I woke up early in Baku to catch a short flight to Nakhichevan which was of course delayed but once I got there it was worth the hassle of getting out there. Going to Nakhichevan was kind of like visiting another world. The place is in no mans land […]
