The Fallacy of All-Time

…eeth. Not only that but you introduced a new character to the world and to New York, simply known as your cousin. This was an all time joke. Rodriguez alleges that this cousin of his injected him in the ass for three years with an unknown substance and he didn’t even think it worked. However, he continued to do it. Also, if you think he only did it from 2001-2003 you are as naive as apparently A-Roid thinks you are. Alex Rodriguez is one of the gr…

Guam: Where America Starts its Day

…blast. A little bar hopping led me to be on schedule for sleeping and made new friends. I was originally going to rent a car and drive around the island but my new friends offered to drive me and play tour guide so I couldn’t say no. We first headed out driving south along the 80km or 50 mile loop of Southern Guam which is far and away the most beautiful part of the island to drive. There are a lot of great look out points and some of the most int…

Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater

…to the Red Rooster restaurant on Lenox Avenue for an excellent soul food dinner and then braved the brutal snowstorm we had here in New York last night to get home. What a great time I had and would go back to amateur night anytime. I highly recommend next time you are in New York to head uptown and check out the Apollo Theater. It really is an institution and is one of those really New York things to do. I am glad after growing up less than an ho…

My Favorite City…Sydney

…a cool vibe. Surf shops line the promenade and I was luckily able to get a new bathing suit at Billabong because my other got destroyed on Christmas Island in that damn scooter accident. I was going to need it for the Cook Islands and when I get back home. So after two quick days in Sydney I find myself smitten again for the city that first captured my imagination way back when. It has a different feel than my other favorite cities like London, Pa…

Sinai, Jordan and Israel

…ach issues, I decided to just chill out. It was a good decision because I knew I had some long, tiring days coming up. As far as prices went, it was a big step up from what it was 11 years ago but still pretty cheap as far as the Red Sea goes and still worthwhile to go visit. There aren’t too many places left like Dahab so get there while you can. Perhaps Thailand and Goa may be the only places on Earth like it at this point and both of those are…

Study Abroad

…even thought about it, except for the fact that I was scared to fly and I knew the flight was 6 hours or so. I had only been on one plane before and that was the Delta shuttle from New York to Washington DC which is 45 minutes or so. As the day I was to leave approached, it was late summer 1998. If you remember that was the year that Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were chasing the baseball home run record and the Yankees were about to wrap up the gre…

…ple. I am already on Facebook and learning Twitter, Tumblr and a few others and I hope you guys who read my site can follow and LIKE me on those sites. Perhaps recommend then to your friends as well. I hope to have many new and cool things in the early new year including more Youtube videos and a new look to my site that is easier to use and search all the content that I’ve added over the past few years. Thanks and happy holidays!…

What’s Next?

…trips too. I miss Africa so maybe I’ll get back to Southern Africa again soon; we shall see! So I hope this clears things up, at least sort of, for people wondering and all those emails I keep getting asking the same question. I am also concentrating on my new website I am re-launching in the next month or two which will be much more user friendly and modern looking and learning social media; namely Twitter @leeabbamonte and facebook so follow or…

A Big Day in Sports

…on was crowned in American college football. Major League Baseball added a new Hall of Famer. FIFA gave out its annual awards and in North London a guy named Thierry Henry made a historic and triumphant comeback for Arsenal. Now you may or may not care about all of these events but I love sports and I wanted to give my quick take on these events. I will pare down my Hall of Fame vote and BCS playoff rant as I could write 10,000 words on that alone…

Around Halifax

…a. First, on September 2, 1998 a Swissair flight bound from JFK airport in New York crashed not too far off the coast of Nova Scotia close to Peggy’s Cove. My father actually knew a guy on that flight so I remember it vividly. Today there is a very poignant memorial on the gorgeous coastal rocks a kilometer or so away from the site of Peggy’s Cove. It is well worth a visit to pay your respects but also for the amazing view and setting. The aforeme…
