The Jumbo Jet Hostel

…, but maybe to scores of Swedes who seemingly cannot wait to frequent this new “phenomenon”. This type of hostel is nothing new in Sweden as they already have a big boat hostel in Stockholm so why not add a 747? I am sure it will be cool and innovative and this Swedish businessman apparently paid upwards of $200,000, which sounds crazy but what the heck-he’s a Swede and they love to gamble! The price tag seems a bit high for a hostel room but-when…

A Stupid Weekend in Sports

…, the best player on my favorite NFL football team, Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants, accidentally shot himself in the leg while out at a club in New York City. Yes, I said he accidentally shot himself in the leg. As the details are very sketchy and he is thankfully OK, I can plainly say this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of as far as stupid athlete moves go-seriously, what an idiot. Questions such as why would he have a gun in a…

St. Vincent and Bequia

…reshing. I wish I could say I did something wild or crazy to celebrate the new discovery but I just laid on the gorgeous white sand beaches all day and had some local island food before heading back to St. Vincent for the night. It was a truly wonderful day and if you are ever in SVG-check out Bequia or one of the other islands. The main reason is that there is really nothing to do on St. Vincent. Everything is lacking in selection including hotel…

To Timbuktu and Back

…arly I am one of them. It’s the name we all knew as kids but never really knew where it was. More than just a name, Timbuktu’s fame was derived from its strategic location, on the edge of the Sahara and at the top of the Sahel, from its role as the fabulously wealthy terminus of a camel caravan route that linked West Africa and the Mediterranean since Medieval times, Timbuktu has been there-in the middle of nowhere. Today, Timbuktu is a dusty, sle…

#200 and the Nigerian Nightmare

…s such a treat and I am sorry I have to leave but have a lot to do back in New York before I go to Mexico next week. I was very happy I got to go the Hemingway Bar in the Hotel Ritz and had dinner in Montmartre last night which is one of my favorite places on the planet. I just had lunch in Paris and will be heading to the airport shortly and will have dinner in New York tonight. I am a little sad because this trip was wonderful and was a true epi…

First Full Day in Tunisia

…d way. This was a place we never would have known about had we not met our new Tunisian friends. We owe our new friend, Hedi, a great deal of thanks for a really fun night. Certainly not bad for a Monday night in Tunis. These people were so nice they even drove us home 30 minutes back to our hotel. We offered to take a taxi but they insisted and we honestly couldn’t have asked for more hospitable and friendly people. These are the types of things…

I rearranged a few things

I created a new page for some of my pictures, aptly named “Pictures of Lee” on the right-hand side tab of this home page, moving it from the about Lee page. I also added a few new pictures from recent trips and will continue to do so more often as I move forward. Thanks for your suggestions and I will be making more changes in the coming weeks as well. Also, I really appreciate when you guys send me pictures of your travels as well so please keep…

Ich Bin Ein Berliner

…e Brandenburg Gate which is as awesome and powerful as ever. The old meets new with places like the new Sony Center which will boggle your mind with how modern and cool it is. Move to over the notorious Checkpoint Charlie which at its peak was one of the most well known and symbolic places of the cold war. Today it is a hokey kind of tourist place but the vibe still remains and the museum keeps alive just how devastating the cold war was on Berlin…

Paris is a Moveable Feast

…ote for some of the best meat I have ever had. Also congrats again on your new job buddy! We spent most of Friday at Roland-Garros watching the final day of qualifying for the French Open. I was so excited to be at Roland Garros and I have now been to all four tennis majors; Australian, French, Wimbledon and US Open. The red clay at Roland-Garros looks much better in person and we had a perfect day to see the qualification finals. We also saw up c…

A Truly International City

…impressive façade than the ugly monstrosity that lives on First Avenue in New York City. The UN is flanked by a huge broken chair right outside its main gate which is supposed to symbolize unity in fighting to rid the world of rogue landmines that take many lives each year, even to this day shockingly. It is also flanked by a large outdoor fountain park area where kids from the city go and play. Imagine seeing that in New York in front of the oth…
