…e guy soon followed and gave me the rolled eyes meaning he had it with his new bride. So I laughed and we started chatting. He quickly said that he totally caved to the pressure and married her even though he couldn’t stand her. I laughed and said that was a brilliant move. He nodded with disgust at himself. I then invited him to come watch the final round of the US Open golf and the opening round of Wimbledon. He accepted much to the chagrin of h…

I’m Alive
…een busy since I got home. I made it to the Bismarck Archipelago and Papua New Guinea before I had to come home. I am contemplating heading back out on the trail in August but haven’t made any plans yet as I am adjusting to being back in the States and enjoying being home, seeing friends and family. The new Yankee Stadium is as awesome as you’d imagine and I have been going to as many games as I can. I will have more moving forward especially if a…
Mongolian Barbecue
…tar (UB), the capital of Mongolia after a long and tumultuous journey from New York that included several hours of screaming babies, no in flight entertainment system on Air China and a 4 hour layover in Beijing so needless to say I was exhausted when I arrived at about midnight local time. However, I was taken aback by the hotel that I had booked online the day before on a whim after I heard it was a pit stop for the Amazing Race TV show. Hotel M…
Beating Jet Lag
…which direction you fly in my opinion. For instance, when I fly east from New York to Europe I get it the worst but there are steps to take in order to avoid it or at least minimize it as best you can. Transatlantic flights generally leave in the morning or the evening (after 6pm) from New York. I always prefer the night flights because then I don’t feel like I’ve wasted a day as you would land at night after a 6 hour flight. I like to either tak…
Club Med Turkoise
…ol people from all over. The majority of people at this Club Med were from New York, California and Montreal. There were also several Albanians, French and others. It was really fun and nice to chat with other people from other places. One woman had been at the Club Med since April which I find fairly appalling but funny and slightly cool at the same time. Another couple had been there like 25 times. Of course, I’m thinking to myself why don’t you…
There Is No Joy In Juba
…oads and get some infrastructure. That of course would be relying upon the new government not stealing the money…such is life on the Continent-TIA. At some point when I come back to Africa to finish up the remaining nations I have yet to visit I will stop in Khartoum, which is the capital of the Sudan. It is a good place to transit between Libya and Eritrea and I would like to see it and compare to Juba. I have never heard a single good thing abou…
Burundi, Malawi and Zambia
…ere no lizards to speak of. Go figure! Anyway, I went out to eat with some new friends at the Red Zebra where they didn’t have anything on the menu that I actually wanted so I ended up with spaghetti Bolognese. In Africa, what’s listed on the menu is rarely actually available and this time it just happened that the first 5 things I wanted weren’t available-again go figure. Lusaka, Zambia From Senga Bay it was about a 16 hour journey overland to Lu…
Calm Before the Storm
…11 Cactus League stadiums here in Arizona and I can’t wait to get back to New York to go to some Yankees games although it will be tough to give up playing golf in the desert sun every day. I also just got back a cool trailer that I am sharing here from my recent Africa trip for a potential TV show. Anyway, there will be much to come from me in the near future as I will be in the Pacific covering some 17 new countries or so including a revamped w…
The Most Boring Country on Earth
…ed. Apparently they brought in a bunch of high priced consultants to write new policies that nobody will adhere to anyway so the money was wasted. However, since there is really no infrastructure anyway, if you split that cash up between all the residents of the island-that would average over $14k a person which is plenty for them to live on here. Ugh the UN and how they waste money, I could go on forever about that! I also met a very nice Mormon…
Bonjour Paris!
…I did manage to make it to all my favorite sights to do a walk-by and the new one I checked out was the Petit Palais. It has a gorgeous courtyard and lovely art that includes works by Renoir among others and is right near Place du Concorde and the Louvre. Other than that I hit up my favorite spot in Paris, the Sacre Coeur and the best view of the city as well as the great little artsy restaurants in town just beside it on Montmarte. This time I w…
