…eally awful. Obviously that doesn’t always happen but it did happen to me. New looking KL transit train So for my money, spend a little more and get a taxi. The KL mass transit system may look new but it doesn’t always function properly. Don’t even get me started on getting to and from the KL Airport; which is like 100 miles from the city! Batu Caves outside Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Anyway, the Batu Caves are a great day trip or even just a few hour…

Washington DC Travel and Adventure Show
…DC Travel and Adventure Show fit in perfectly. I took the train down from New York on Friday, hung out with some friends and attended the show Saturday before speaking on Sunday. The show itself is pretty cool. It is full of exhibitors looking to sell trips and travel related products to consumers who attend the show. The Washington DC Travel and Adventure Show had some cool things like a rock climbing wall and a swimming pool for learning to div…
My SXSW Experience
…uille O’Neal not only speak but also just walk the floor and check out the new gadgets. And of course I saw Edward Snowden talk about cyber security and the NSA from Moscow, Russia in the most anticipated talk at SXSW. These are really important and influential people who chose to speak at SXSW-that says something. Aside from being exposed to tech and interactive things and people, which normally freak me out, I was blown away by how cool some thi…
My Appearance on Veria Living TV
This is the first of my two segments on Veria Living; a new network available on multiple different national cable platforms and online. It was a lot of fun and look forward to doing it again. I loved having a studio audience. This was actually the first time I’ve been in front of a studio audience since the very first time I appeared on TV in 2006 on ESPN’s Stump the Schwab-which was a sports trivia game show! Click this link that’ll take you to…
Aruba 10 Years Later
…t has since gone through a complete renovation and looks like a completely new hotel. I was very impressed by what they have done with the property. I was also very impressed by the excellent, thoughtful and friendly staff that went well beyond expectations with effort over the course of my stay. There is also the Hyatt just down the beach; which is where I stayed back in 1999. It still looks exactly the same and the open-air lobby is still one of…
My Year in Travel 2014
…Palm Springs, the Cincinnati Masters in Ohio and of course the US Open in New York. Another awesome sporting event that I checked off my to do list was my incredible Indy 500 weekend. I had such a blast and highly recommend it! In 2014 I did visit a few great islands. I made it back to Aruba for the third time but first in 10 years. It was easy my favorite experience on the island and was really excited to see all the progress made on the island….
Why You Need Travel Insurance
…e never had to personally cancel a trip beforehand but I once was in Papua New Guinea and I had a death in the family. I had to cancel the rest of my trip to get back to New York. Unfortunately, I did not have travel insurance and ended up having to pay out of pocket about $5500 for a ticket home for the funeral. Eating that money plus the cancelled portion of the trip made the circumstances even worse for me. I’ve had travel insurance every trip…
Puerto Princesa Subterranean River
…few years ago, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River was named one of the new seven wonders of nature. At the time, it was one of two that I had not been to: the other being Komodo Island. So when the opportunity for this cruise on the Azamara Quest came up and I saw I could visit the last two remaining new seven wonders of nature on the same cruise, I jumped at it. But I must admit, when the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River won that title, I w…
Tikal, Guatemala
If you have listened to my rants on the radio or on some of my new 7 wonders postings, then you’ll know that I disagreed with the selection of Chichen Itza as a new wonder of the world. The main reason for that is because I think Tikal in Guatemala is a better example of the great Mayan Empire and the ruins are much better to see in person and the best part is, you can climb on them! For me, accessibility is half the fun and at Tikal you can clim…
