You know it’s funny. I’m on a cruise ship in the Middle East, it’s hot as can be and everything is honestly perfect. But I keep thinking about an upcoming trip I have to Antarctica early next year and I cannot wait! Once you’ve been to the ice, stood on it, seen it, and felt it-you want more. People always tell me Antarctica is on their bucket list. I hate the term bucket list as you may already know and all I say is to go! Here’s why you should go to Antarctica now.
First, my theory on life is ‘why wait’? Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Antarctica is the seventh continent for many and the trip of a lifetime for most. Believe me, it is just that-a trip of a lifetime.
There are many types of trips to Antarctica. If you’ve followed me for a while then you know I’ve done some non-traditional trips to the ice. That’s how I made it to the South Pole and even how I failed when Prince Harry prevented me from reaching the South Pole on my first attempt.
In March I’ll be going with Oceanwide Expeditions on a trip from South America to Ascension Island off the coast of Africa and stopping at several spots along the way including South Georgia Island for 3-4 days. South Georgia is not Antarctica proper (it’s a Sub-Antarctic British dependency or something like that) but I hear from people who know that it’s as good as it gets. I’m very excited.
Another trip I hear is as good as it gets is to the spectacular Ross Sea. I have a few travel pals who have done expeditions to this remote part of Antarctica and rave about it. Oceanwide Expeditions is running 2 amazing trips to the Ross Sea early 2017 and I truly wish I could go on one!
They are currently selling at up to $10,000 off the regular cost. Plus I have a special discount code for another $1000 off the expedition if you use the code LEE1000GIFT.
This is as good as you’re ever going to see to the Ross Sea and a great introduction on a seldom-visited part of Antarctica. Again, I wish I could go and plan to soon. So time and cost are a couple of good reasons why you should go to Antarctica now. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Make today someday and kick that damn bucket list!
Disclaimer: I have a business relationship with Oceanwide Expeditions and receive financial compensation. This post was written by me and is based on my experiences in Antarctica.
