Yesterday I had the true pleasure to meet an American hero and record a podcast with the Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden.  Robert (Rob) O’Neill, was the man who pulled the trigger on the famous raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan and killed the piece of shit scumbag who masterminded the 9/11 attacks that killed 3000 Americans in 2001.  I, like so many millions of others, are forever grateful.

My friend, NYPD Officer Mike Safoschnik, who does this podcast regularly and I’ve been a guest on 4 or 5 times asked me to come on and co-host this episode with him.  I found out a few weeks ago when I was in Italy and I was so excited to meet Rob.

This was important to me because it represented a form of closure for myself.  I worked at the top of One World Trade Center from 2000-2001 and lost many friends and colleagues on that horrific day.  I have struggled with the aftermath for 15+ years as anyone who lost people that day has.

Meeting and becoming friends with Rob was a form of closure for me.  Not because of he himself, but because of what he represents.  What he, Seal Team 6 and the CIA did for the families, friends and colleagues of those that perished cannot be understated in what it meant to people who were directly affected.  Moreover, to Americans everywhere, the people of New York, Washington DC and those that fought terror to the death onboard flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania.  Rob and Seal Team 6 are American heroes and have my deepest respect and gratitude.

I want to thank my friend Mike Safo, the 94th Precinct in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and the New York Police Department.  It was a little overwhelming doing a podcast in front of 70 police officers but they couldn’t have been nicer and more appreciative of what Rob did.  Many lost friends and colleagues on that day and brought photos and shared stories.  It was an emotional and overwhelming day but one of the most memorable I’ve had in a long time.

Rob, thank you for your service and thank you for what you did.  You are a true hero and represent so much to so many.  Beers on me!
