5 Awesome Things to do in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada

Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada is the premier skiing destination in Eastern Canada. It is a gorgeous place full of natural beauty, wildlife and seclusion. A little known secret is that Mont-Tremblant is a full year resort destination as well. I am not a big skier so I was happy to go up in late May and discovered there are a lot of things to do in Mont-Tremblant in the summer and there were so many more that I wasn’t able to do because of a limited timeframe. Here are 5 awesome things to do in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec.

Scandinave Spa

I have been fortunate to do a lot of different spa treatments and types of spas around the world. I’m not big on skin treatments at fancy places as I’m happy with my at-home ways to minimize pores and other remedies. However, I do love a good massage or a good spa experience.

I have had pretty amazing spa pool experiences in places like Bali, New Zealand and Iceland where each offers something different to their spa experience. However, I’ve never been to such a laid back, relaxed, plotted out spa like Scandinave Spa in Mont-Tremblant.

It is set up so you basically go from hot to cold unlike Polynesian spas I’ve been to where you go gradually. In fact, the first thing I did after soaking in a hot tub for a while was jump into a river that was absolutely freezing. However, the cold locks the pores and keeps the good stuff in from the hot tub.

I won’t sit here and try to sound like a spa expert. I just go and do what you’re supposed to do and try to relax like anyone else. Usually, I get bored after a while but at Scandinave Spa, it’s very spread out and in the woods so it’s really relaxing. There are many different relaxation areas; some with fire pits, others with big comfy chairs or shaded beds. Whatever you like you have to chill out. I definitely recommend the Scandinave Spa as one of the best things to do in Mont-Tremblant.

Helicopter Ride

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, anything to do with a helicopter is awesome! The helicopter ride I took with Heli Tremblant was no exception. The experienced pilots and brand new helicopters were the best way to really see Mont-Tremblant and the surrounding areas.

I think I went at one of the best times to do the heli ride. The greens are out in full bloom, the lakes look marvelous and the weather happened to be amazing the day I went; which always helps!

The pilot will take you basically wherever you want to get some good photos and he’ll give you the lay of the land and point out some of the massive estates owned by celebrities like Michael Douglas and hockey star Mario Lemieux.

Like any good pilot, he can also make it fun and go really low so you feel the pressure of the helicopter versus gravity and the ground. I love that feeling. I also love swerving around the peak of Mont-Tremblant itself. You come around and see the vast green and blue expanses ahead. Being in a helicopter is like the ultimate freedom-especially if it’s a private helicopter! This is without question, one of the best things to do in Mont-Tremblant.

Golf

I love golf as most of you know but I get to play far too seldom mainly because of my travel schedule and where I live, as New York City is not really conducive to playing golf. And if you play golf, you know that you need practice to maintain your level of play. So when I got the chance to play Le Diable Golf Course in Mont-Tremblant I wasn’t expecting to play my best but I just wanted to have some fun and get out there! I definitely accomplished those things!

I’m a super laid back guy and always like to have fun and always want the people around me to have fun and feel comfortable as well. So golf is a great thing to do with your buddies, especially with a few adult beverages! I got the opportunity to play with Don, the club pro at the course and we had a blast. He was a great guy and we just told stories and chatted for 3.5 hours on the course.

The course itself is beautiful. There are a ton of sand traps; some of the biggest I’ve ever seen and yes I got caught in a few. However, I played pretty well overall especially on the back nine after I warmed up a little bit. The 15th hole is the signature hole but I might argue that the par 3 6th was the coolest hole. I bogeyed both of them but they were gorgeous nonetheless!

The thing that impressed me the most about the course and their sister course I saw driving in was how well manicured and what great shape they were in this early in the season. Considering it had snowed a week before, I was pretty impressed! Not to mention my consistent 300+ yard drives…my short game was another story…but that’s golf!

Eat

Mont-Tremblant has no shortage of places to eat in the cute little village at the base of the mountain. It is similar to a place like Whistler in this regard but Mont-Tremblant is much smaller and more manageable. Just stroll around the little village and you’ll find ample shopping, restaurants and watering holes. In my short two day stay I ate at 3 places worth checking out when you’re in Mont-Tremblant.

La Forge is basically a big, high-end steakhouse right in the middle of the village that still feels very quaint and really nails the food. You can get all of your favorites here but they also have some awesome appetizers worth checking out like the duck wings and honestly the best Caesar salad I may have ever had. But for me, the crème de le crème was the Kobe beef rib eye. It was truly to die for and if you like great meat, there is little better than this dish. I highly recommend La Forge.

Coco Pazzo is a lovely Italian restaurant just off the main square of the village. It is probably the fanciest place in town and the food is very good and creative. For instance, the shrimp cocktail appetizer is served on sorbet. I also tried meat stuffed, fried olives that were fabulous. I had the osso buco; which is one of my favorites normally. It was good but I would probably order something else if I went back there. However, the caramel cheesecake dessert was amongst the best desserts I’ve ever had and I’m not really a dessert guy.

Finally, I had lunch and a beer tasting at the Microbrewery in the village. I’m generally not a big microbrew guy and don’t really get what all the fuss is about but the beers were all very good and I enjoyed both the presentation and explanation of the beers. But for me, the highlight was the poutine-one of my favorite things in the world and a Quebec classic. In fact, when I did a Travel Channel show a few years ago in Montreal, we did a whole segment on poutine because I love it so much! But this is the place to get it in Mont-Tremblant and you won’t be disappointed!

Stay

I stayed at the Fairmont Tremblant just at the top of the village. As many of you know, I love the Fairmont brand and have worked with them for a while now. This was a totally separate thing but the hotel really delivered and I could comfortably say it’s the top place to stay in Mont-Tremblant. The Westin would come next with a central village location.

The Fairmont Tremblant has a great ski in, ski out location, a great pool, good restaurant; classic bar-plus the service and staff were fantastic. Exactly what you’d expect in a Fairmont hotel in Canada. In fact, I’ve literally stayed in just about all of them all over the country.
5 awesome things to do in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada, FAIRMONT TREMBLANT, personalized goodies
Typical of Fairmont’s, the Fairmont Tremblant did its homework and stocked my room with goodies and personalized items to make me really feel at home during my stay. In fact, I even taped a Fox News TV segment via Skype from my room at the Fairmont Tremblant. I wouldn’t even think twice, I would 100% stay here again.

Those are 5 awesome things to do in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada but there are so many more. I also took a gondola up to the peak of Mont-Tremblant; which I highly recommend. Also, if you have some time you can go kayaking or stand up paddle boarding, hiking, biking, zip-lining or play some more golf. You really can’t go wrong with anything you do. It’s day and night from summer to winter so check it out during each season. I can’t wait to go back for the winter!

  1. I’ve always wanted to visit Mont-Tremblant. My neighbors growing up used to go there every winter to ski and I always loved seeing the photos. Thanks for bringing it to my attention again, I haven’t thought about it in a few years.

    • No worries and I hope you go soon. It’s funny, I first heard about Mont-Tremblant about 10-11 years ago when the guy who sat next to me at work when I still had a real job went there with his now wife. They loved it and I remember thinking it looked gorgeous in the pics.

  2. How did you get there from New York, Lee?

    • The seasonal airport hadn’t opened yet so I had to fly to and from Montreal and drive about 1:45 from the Montreal airport to Mont-Tremblant…it’s a quick and easy drive with pretty nice scenery once you get into the mountains. I think the airport should be open now and I believe there are directs from New York or at least connects in Toronto or Montreal.

  3. MT is one of my favorite places! I’ve never been in the summer but the skiing is great and an easy trip from Ottawa. I saw you were there a few weeks ago and was looking forward to what you thought. Glad you enjoyed it and now I may have to go play some golf out there this summer.

  4. Wow this sounds pretty fantastic. It’s definitely on my radar and we can drive there from upstate NY! Have you ever driven into Canada, Lee? Do I need a passport?

    • Many times yes and yes you ned a passport. I’m shocked that from upstate NY you’ve never driven to Canada! It’s says just budget a little time coming back to the states especially from the 87 border

  5. I would love to do the spa and helicopter ride. I’ve never been in a helicopter as I barely like to fly at all. But it just seems so beautiful to see everything from above.

  6. Bella Cappo??? Where is that? Did you mean Coco Pazzo. I recognize the dishes.

  7. When do you start having snow around to sky???…

  8. Do you expect any snow by december 28th, 2018???….
