Saigon is way better than KL and HK
Jakarta is very underrated, I understand why you don’t have it up but it’s pretty cool once you get to know it
I havent been to bangkok or Tokyo but Saigon was excellent and so cheap I didn’t even know what to do with myself, I was like a kid in a candy store
I agree that Saigon should’ve been above KL but the other three cities are really cool and a lot of fun and their size and culture should leave them above Saigon which is a cery very cool place and Pete is right–its really cheap, way cheaper than HK or Tokyo. Bangers is still cheap as well.
What about Vladivostok?
Maybe its just me and it seems it is, but I did not like Bangkok that much, but I did love Ho Chi. That was an amazing city.
Where did you stay there and what did you do? How was the Muay Thai?
We stayed at the Shangri La, really awesome hotel, great view down the river. We saw the Grand Palace, a few of the Wat’s around there, drove out to the floating market for a day, drinking at the highest open air restaurant in Asia. The Muay Thai was pretty awesome, actually did that within hours of landing because of the timing. Went to the Lumpini stadium (the more famous one), interesting place because it only really fits like 2500 people and basically hasnt changed since it was built in 1950s.
I stayed at the Shangri La as well one time I was there, sick hotel but if you havent been other times, in that area of Bangers it kind of shields you away from the seedy subcultures of Bangkok, which is what makes it so cool and exciting. Khao San Road and Patpong for instance are things you probably didn’t get to see…Alex probably would’ve hated then anyway so you’re probably better off. I didn’t like Bangkok the first time I went either, it needs to grow on you.
Yea, we were only in Bangkok for like 2.5 days, probably needed more time and I can certainly understand the shielding of the Shangri La. We had 4 days in Ho Chi Minh and we both really like that city.
