As many of you know, study abroad was the best decision I ever made and completely changed my life. Travel insurance provider Allianz Global Assistance USA; which I am a global ambassador, has launched its 13th annual scholarship contest for students who want to study or volunteer abroad. The “ScholarTrips” contest provides grants to students who want to participate in international travel programs. Exposure to the world is critical to students development in a global market and economy.
Allianz Global Assistance has awarded more than $150,000 in travel scholarships to students who demonstrate a desire to learn or help others through travel. The goal of this year’s contest is to provide students over the age of 14 with a platform to showcase their creativity while answering the question, “What is your dream travel experience and who is your ideal travel companion and where would you go?” Entries can be submitted in either an essay or a video. Students entering the contest will be eligible to win one of six first-place $2,500 scholarships, ten second-place $1,000 scholarships or 25 third-place $500 scholarships.
This year, Allianz Global Assistance has provided travel agents with tools to promote the contest with local media and on their social media platforms. Travel agents can use the tools provided on the ScholarTrips’s “Promote the Contest” page to connect with customers and potential customers who may be interested in entering the contest. These tools can be found at scholartrips.org/promote.
“We believe in supporting student programs that promote travel, cultural understanding and personal growth,” said Joe Mason, Chief Marketing Officer of the Americas Region at Allianz Worldwide Partners. “ScholarTrips can help students enrich their lives through these experiences and make travel dreams a reality.”
I completely agree with my friend Joe. As I mentioned, study abroad was the catalyst for my life of travel and my current businesses. Had it not been for the opportunity to do so, I would never be where I am today. So I am a huge proponent of this program and contest and hope all kids who want to travel will participate. I also hope all parents will encourage their kids to do so to open their mind and their options.
The ScholarTrips Contest will run October 6h through November 6th. All winning entries will be featured on the ScholarTrips website. Full details can be found at scholartrips.org. Winners will be announced on or about December 20th.
