As many of you know, I have partnered up with TravelSmith; one of the leading online travel clothing retailers in the world. In the last few months I’ve written posts on my site and for TravelSmith.com on a variety of subjects but today I am doing a straight up TravelSmith product review of some of the travel gear that I’ve received and used in the last 3 months.
As part of my partnership, TravelSmith provided me with the travel gear that I requested. I chose the gear based upon my own personal needs and chose some products that I had never used before to try them out. Here is a TravelSmith product review of 7 different products that I received and used.
Men’s Merrell Grassbow Air Shoes
The Men’s Merrell Grassbow Air Shoes are awesome. I love the colors, I love the feel and I love the performance. I actually had these shoes with me at the North Pole to wear around camp. I have always loved hiking shoes as everyday shoes but had never tried these Merrell’s before. When I saw them available of the website, I had to have them and I liked them so much-I actually have 2 pairs of them!
They breathe easy so your feet don’t overheat or get too sweaty in your sock. They also grip the terrain really well. I have worn them all over Europe and they handled city streets, dirt mountain tracks and of course the ice in Svalbard and further north at Barneo Ice Camp at the North Pole. I highly recommend these shoes for your next adventure and they’re on sale right now at 35% off!
Men’s Sperry Top-Sider Authentic Original Boat Shoes
I have never had a pair of shoes like the Men’s Sperry Top-Sider Authentic Original Boat Shoes. I’ve always kind of looked at boat shoes and said they weren’t for me, I am more of a sneaker or flip flop guy. This is still true but I am glad I got them to diversify my shoes a little bit and give me some options.
As the New York spring weather finally got nice yesterday, I was finally able to wear them and try them out. I like the feel and the look. It’s a little more preppy than I normally do but again, I like to try different things. I expect I’ll be wearing them a lot this spring and summer around the city, or on the boat.
There were a lot of great pants on the TravelSmith website but I went with the Pickpocket-Proof Pants simply because I loved the style and I needed a new pair of pants to be honest! The Pickpocket-Proof Pants are super comfy, light fitting and airy. It also helps that they are pickpocket-proof, have 9 pockets and all kinds of secret compartments!
I’ve never been pickpocketed myself but I have heard horror stories of those who have so a little extra security never hurt anyone. Especially, as I always carry my passport, cash and wallet with me at all times when I travel. For extra security and extra style, check these out for sure when you travel or are just hanging with your friends as they’ll do well for any scenario!
When I saw the ExOfficio V-Neck T-Shirt, I had no idea what it meant so I investigated a little further. What that means basically is it’s fast drying or essentially a wicking tee that you would climb a mountain with. The nylon-spandex breathes and stretches for comfort and it fights bacteria for excellent odor control.
I tend to sweat and I do a lot of intense physically activities. Just this weekend I took a really long hike around Manhattan and I wore it. It literally took my sweat, wicked it off and although I was sweaty and it was cold out-I felt dry and warm. It’s a tighter fitting tee because it is designed to do exactly what I mentioned and I can say that it definitely does. It’s a performance tee. You probably wouldn’t want to wear it on a first date but if you’re climbing or running around, you’ll be glad you have it on.
The Pima Cotton Everyday Tee was the first thing I knew I wanted from the TravelSmith website. I pretty much always wear tee shirts and I love V-necks in just about any color but black and white are without question my staples-just check some of my photos on my site or social media!
The Pima Cotton Everyday Tee is a little different because it has long-staple cotton fibers that make it exceptionally soft and light. Plus, a touch of spandex gives it shape retention; which I love. I like form fitting tee shirts but not too tight so this tee does it just about perfect. I will be ordering more of these without question.
I’m the first to admit I have a lot of jackets. I’ve accumulated a lot of jackets and outerwear over the years from the many climbs, trips and expeditions I’ve done. However, when I saw the Waterproof Bomber Jacket, I realized I didn’t have anything basic and simple like this so I grabbed it not knowing much about it. This weekend I wore it around chilly New York and it definitely impressed me.
At first glance it basically looks like a Members Only jacket! However, it is made of breathable, waterproof and wind-resistant polyester. It is also ready for the rain with multiple rain functions that I haven’t had a chance to figure out yet but I’ll learn quickly if I get caught in the rain-which happens frequently to me as I never carry an umbrella! I’m looking forward to using this Waterproof Bomber Jacket more as it’s both stylish and comfortable.
Yes, I have several jackets just like the Marmot PreCip Jacket but I liked this one for a few reasons. First, Marmot gear is outstanding stuff. This particular jacket is obviously water and wind proof and is made of strong, durable nylon. It is also very stylish and can be worn in any season.
It is also only 13 ounces in weight so you won’t even notice if you’re carrying it in your luggage. You can fold it up or shove it in anywhere you have room and it’ll come out firing no matter what. I am really excited about this coat and at only $99, it’s a real bargain.
So that’s my TravelSmith product review of 7 items I have tried out and really liked and am excited to wear more. I could review another dozen products and probably will in a future post but for the sake of length, I will stop now at 7. I’m really happy with these products and anyone who travels, hikes or does anything outdoorsy will love these products too.
Here’s a special for my readers from TravelSmith! You can get $20 off a purchase of $100 or more at TravelSmith.com using the code LEETRAVL

I just had a look on the Travelsmith site and they definitely have some nice stuff. You should branch out on some brighter colors. I know black and white are New Yorker colors but try a little red or yellow in your life. You can pull it off.
Haha noted! I high some bright red gear as well!
Lee, you honestly have the best job ever. Much respect!
Thanks man, I like it!
Looking good!
Gracias!
Yes! This is exactly what I need for my boyfriends birthday present! He hates everything but loves gear! Do they do gift certificates? They must.
Yes I feel like most guys hate everything except for cool gear and sports related stuff
“You probably wouldn’t want to wear it on a first date but if you’re climbing or running around, you’ll be glad you have it on.”
What if you’re climbing or running around on a first date? 🙂
But seriously, love Merrells – those are my go-to hiking shoes – and I think I have that same Marmot jacket, but the women’s version. Also great. If Travelsmith needs a woman to try out some gear, send them my way…
My kind of first date! Any interest in climbing Elbrus this summer?
You’re funny!
Haha thanks!
